Soya beans are predominantly grown in both North & South America in more temperate and warmer climates. The beans are harvested and delivered to the crush plant for crushing with the subsequent crude soya oil extracted, which can be used directly for animal feed with its high linoleic acid content or refined by means of physical or alkali refining. As part of the refinery process soya acid oil is produced and is used as a raw material in Goldstar Vegetable Oil Blends.

Rape seed is grown in many regions of the world as it can withstand colder climates. compared to soya beans. The seed is harvested and delivered to the crushing plant whereby it is crushed to produce crude rape oil. The rape oil is refined by alkali refining and as part of the process a soapstock is manufactured and subsequently split to produce rape acid oil which is used as a raw material in Goldstar Oils vegetable blends.

Sunflower seed is grown in large areas in southern parts of Europe which are not drought prone. It is also grown in Ukraine, Russia and South America and the oil generally carries a premium due to its excellent quality characteristics for certain food applications. The seed is harvested and delivered to the crush plant whereby the oil is extracted and refined and can also undergo an interestification step which maintains the oil in a liquid state when exposed to temperatures below freezing. As part of the refining process sunflower acid oil is produced and is used as a raw material in Goldstar Vegetable Oil blends.

Palm is produced from Palm fruit as opposed to many other oils which are derived from seed. Fruit bunches are delivered to the palm mill where they are sterilised, stripped and crushed to extract the crude palm oil. Crude palm can be refined and fractionated for various applications. As part of the process palm fatty acid distillate (PFAD) is produced which is used as a raw material in Goldstar Oils vegetable blends.
